Cheaters gonna cheat, but not on Infinity Ward’s watch. The developer has apparently already banned “1600+” Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 cheaters, and won’t be stopping there.<\/p>\n

“Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued. Updates in works. Please cont. to report offenders,” posted creative strategist Robert Bowling on Twitter<\/a>, later adding<\/a> that “Every ban [is] unique to the level of douchiness of the offense. The greater the douche the greater the length. PermaDouche possible.”<\/p>\n

Ladies and gentlemen, don’t be a douche. It’s really that simple.<\/p>\n

The developer is reportedly also busy-busy-busy with “lots” of Modern Warfare 3 updates, due out this week.<\/p>\n

“We’ll be addressing ‘laggy’ games, stat loss prevention, & more,” said<\/a> Bowling.<\/p>\n

Quite in spite of those problems, the game’s been a huge success, selling 6.5 million copies in its first 24 hours of release and banking over $400 million for Activision. Yesterday the publisher announced that the new Call of Duty Elite service already has one million paying subscribers<\/a> on Xbox and PS3, although a PC launch date has still not been confirmed.<\/p>\n
