{"id":28063,"date":"2011-11-30T15:05:23","date_gmt":"2011-11-30T13:05:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=28063"},"modified":"2011-11-30T15:08:04","modified_gmt":"2011-11-30T13:08:04","slug":"ram-prices-continue-to-drop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/28063-ram-prices-continue-to-drop","title":{"rendered":"RAM prices continue to drop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good news <a title=\"System Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/21037-PC-Gaming\">PC<\/a> gamers: thanks to an oversupply, DRAM is continuing to become cheaper.<\/p>\n<p>A lack of demand in the OEM PC market has resulted in the oversupply which has caused the contract price of a 4G DDR3 memory kit to dip to $15.50 (R130), marking a 7.9% drop. The price of a 2GB DDR3 kit has dropped 7.3% to $9.50 (R79).<\/p>\n<p>As a result, DRAM manufacturers are decreasing their production capacity but this will only have an effect next year.<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturer, Elpida, has reduced its capacity by 25% at its Hiroshima plant.
