The second annual IndieDB “Indie of the Year” awards has kicked off phase one of its nomination process. The Indie of the Year awards hosted by IndieDB allows indie gaming fans to vote for their favourite indie game of the year.<\/p>\n

Indie DB currently lists 3,000 games, of which 2,500 of them were updated this year. You can vote for any game listed on IndieDB by heading here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The awards process will then move into phase two where the top 100 games will be listed and eventually one game will be crowned the 2011 indie of the year.<\/p>\n

If you’re having a difficult time remembering which indie titles won you over during the year, Indie DB will be posting a series of recap articles to help jog your memory. If you already know which game you want to vote for, you can browse Indie DB’s game catalogue<\/a> and have your say right now.<\/p>\n

The top 100 games according to votes will be announced on 11 December. Voting has just been opened, but so far 5,003 votes have been cast, and 50,901 people have browsed the site looking for their favourite indie game of 2011.<\/p>\n

IndieDB is also looking for the best upcoming game, so if there are any indie titles on the horizon that you’d like to vote for, head on over to the best upcoming game section. <\/a><\/p>\n

The editor’s choice nominees will be voted for by “an elite cast of gaming journalists”.<\/p>\n
