Telkom Do Gaming<\/a> has announced that registrations for the Do Gaming League (DGL) 2012 season are now open.<\/p>\n

Next year\u2019s DGL will support the following titles:<\/p>\n

PC<\/strong><\/p>\n

Modern Warfare 3 (confirmed R60,000 prize purse), Battlefield 3 (R100,000 prize purse), Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, DOTA 2, Call of Duty 4, StarCraft II, rFactor.<\/p>\n

Starcraft II<\/p><\/div>\n

Console<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gears of War 3, Modern Warfare 3, Forza 4, Gran Turismo 5, FIFA 12.<\/p>\n

Gaming Inc (Incredible Connection<\/a>‘s gaming division) and Electronic Arts<\/a> South Africa are sponsoring the Battlefield 3 league with R50,000 each, making the total confirmed prize purse R100,000.<\/p>\n

Megarom<\/a> is sponsoring the Modern Warfare 3 PC<\/a> league with R50,000 and Monster Energy is putting R10,000 on the table, bringing the prize purse to R60,000.\u00a0 Megarom and Monster will also be sponsoring the Modern Warfare 3 league with branded shirts, free drinks and other merchandise.<\/p>\n

Last year Telkom sponsored the Call of Duty 4 league with an R80,000 prize purse. The telecoms operator has not yet confirmed if it will be sponsoring the league in 2012. Samsung also got involved last year, giving away over R200,000 worth of Samsung hardware in the StarCraft II league.<\/p>\n

South Africa\u2019s competitive gaming scene continues to grow each year, with more games being added to the calendar and more clans and players signing up.<\/p>\n

Alongside the DoGaming league 2012 we had the start of the NAG<\/a> Gaming League, which saw hundreds of Call of Duty: Black Ops players competing online. Then of course there is the monthly PolarfluKe StarCraft II tournament, which puts up a cash purse of R8,000 every month.<\/p>\n
