{"id":29211,"date":"2011-12-08T14:39:27","date_gmt":"2011-12-08T12:39:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=29211"},"modified":"2011-12-08T14:41:19","modified_gmt":"2011-12-08T12:41:19","slug":"nintendo%e2%80%99s-legendary-miyamoto-is-not-retiring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/29211-nintendo%e2%80%99s-legendary-miyamoto-is-not-retiring","title":{"rendered":"Nintendo\u2019s legendary Miyamoto is NOT retiring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier today, Wired reported that <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/11857-Nintendo\">Nintendo<\/a> legend and Mario creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, had announced his retirement \u2013 stepping down to rather work on smaller games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInside our office, I\u2019ve been recently declaring, \u2018I\u2019m going to retire, I\u2019m going to retire,\u2019\u201d Miyamoto told Wired, \u201cI\u2019m not saying that I\u2019m going to retire from game development altogether. What I mean by retiring is, retiring from my current position.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This news rippled through gaming sites, which proceeded to flog headlines like THE WORLD OF GAMING IS COMING TO AN END!* \u00a0GAMES NO LONGER RELEVANT!* WHY GOD WHY I DON\u2019T WANT TO LIVE ANYMORE!*<\/p>\n<p>We at MyGaming are slightly more prudent however (and belly-button lint is really tough to get out) so we held back on our coverage \u2013 just as well, because Nintendo have come out, guns-blazing, refuting the reports.<\/p>\n<p>Something about their shares tanking 2% might have had something to do with that.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Eurogamer, Nintendo had this to say:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is not true, he will not be stepping down. Video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto&#8217;s role at Nintendo is not changing.
