Chalk up another victory for the conspiracy-theorist internet hivemind, as they have correctly predicted that upcoming Playstation 3<\/a> exclusive The Last of Us is being developed by Naughty Dog<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The title was officially unveiled at the Spike VGAs<\/a> by celebrity performer will.i.am, and featured a new gameplay trailer consisting of in-game footage. The video shows a man and a young girl battling against diseased humans in a ruined city, which appears to be\u00a0succumbing to nature’s attempt to destroy it.<\/p>\n

The game has no release window just yet, but Naughty\u00a0Dog co-president Evan Wells has confirmed that Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley will be leading the project as creative\u00a0director and game director respectively, saying they’ve been working as “a two team studio”.<\/p>\n

Wells has also posted some new details up on the Playstation blog:<\/p>\n

“The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven tale about a modern plague decimating mankind. Nature encroaches upon civilization, forcing remaining survivors to kill for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.”<\/p>\n
