The PlayStation Vita has begun its planetary rollout in Japan, and it’s off to a pretty good start.<\/p>\n

Following its launch on Saturday, the new handheld has shifted 321,407 units in\u00a0 two days, beating out the original PSP’s 200,000 sales in the same period – although, technically, that’s because Sony had shipped only 200,000 units at the time.<\/p>\n

According to a report over on Destructoid<\/a>, the PS Vita has not, however, sold out its initial shipment – estimated at 700,000 units – although the supply of high-capacity 16 and 32 GB memory cards is apparently completely wiped.<\/p>\n

The sales fall a bit short of the Nintendo 3DS, which sold 371,326 in its first two days before everybody realised that, maybe, it wasn’t actually that great and stopped buying it until Nintendo cut the price in August.<\/p>\n

The PS Vita is scheduled to launch in Hong Kong and Taiwan later this week, and America, Europe, and everywhere else in human-occupied space in February next year.<\/p>\n
