{"id":30101,"date":"2012-01-04T14:35:46","date_gmt":"2012-01-04T12:35:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=30101"},"modified":"2012-01-04T14:39:58","modified_gmt":"2012-01-04T12:39:58","slug":"nintendo-sells-4-million-3ds-consoles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/30101-nintendo-sells-4-million-3ds-consoles","title":{"rendered":"Nintendo sells 4 million 3DS consoles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/11857-Nintendo\">Nintendo<\/a> has announced that it has now sold over 4 million <a title=\"System Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/19926-Nintendo-3DS-(3DS)\">3DS<\/a> consoles.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of the strongest software lineups in our history helped Nintendo have a great holiday season and to close 2011 with a full head of steam,&#8221; said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America&#8217;s executive vice president of Sales &amp; Marketing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Not only have the new Mario and Zelda titles already broken records, but with strong reviews and satisfied customers sharing their positive experiences, all three are also shaping up to be the latest long-tail titles from Nintendo. Couple that with a massive first- and third party lineup in the first part of the year and the prospects for 2012 are extremely promising.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nintendo sold more than 12 million total hardware units in the United States in 2011, marking the fifth year in a row that the company has accomplished that feat. This includes more than 4.5 million units of <a title=\"System Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/19874-Nintendo-Wii\">Wii<\/a>, more than 4 million Nintendo 3DS systems, and more than 3.4 million units of the\u00a0 <a title=\"System Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/19924-Nintendo-DS-(NDS)\">Nintendo DS<\/a> family of systems.
