As it turns out, if you had switched your language preferences in Minecraft to Afrikaans (which here in South Africa wouldn’t be all that uncommon – unless, like me, you didn’t realise there were other language options), then you may have been greeted by this loveley gem:<\/p>\n

You are a person of alternative racial heritage!<\/p><\/div>\n

Correct me if I’m wrong (and with a surname like mine, I’m sure I’m not) – but that isn’t even Afrikaans.<\/p>\n

And shouldn’t “Minecraft” be “Mynskep” or something?<\/p>\n

Apparently, being an indie game with global appeal, Mojang depends on you, the every day Minecraftian, to help translate the various text-prompts and menus into the respective languages – and when it came down to Afrikaans – they got trolled.<\/p>\n

Mojang’s Jens “Jeb” Bergensten was made aware of the issue, fixed it and apologized<\/a> saying “I thought I had banned that user”.<\/p>\n

The real question here is whether the troll in question was South African, or just some random dude (or dudette) who incidentally chose Afrikaans as his target for sabotage.<\/p>\n
