Despite a compelling performance, South Africa\u2019s Battlefield 3 team went down against team Finland in the Clanbase Nations Cup Competition on Sunday night.

The match against Finland was team South Africa\u2019s first in the competition, and it kicked off at 9PM on Sunday night, 29 January.<\/p>\n

The match took place on Grand Bazzar, and according to the match report, team South Africa put a lot of time into getting a solid strategy working on the map to give themselves the best chance possible.\u00a0 The first round was played on a server based in Finland, giving the European team a distinct advantage. Finland played as Russia and team SA played as US.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first round on the international server was very tough, as we could clearly notice the difference between international and national infrastructure regarding connection speeds and packet losses. Finland managed to take 2\/3 flags with ease, although we managed at some stages to recapture 2\/3 flags, we just couldn\u2019t keep them at bay. I must admit, Finland\u2019s weapon accuracy is out of this world, fantastic. We really had a tough time on their server,\u201d said team manager EasyKill.<\/p>\n

A 15 minute break followed the first round, after which the second round kicked off on a locally hosted MWEB server. This time team South Africa had the home advantage, and it was reflected in the score.<\/p>\n

While team SA got off to a solid start in round two, it would seem that relative inexperience and overexcitement may have got the better of some players. EasyKill had this to say about the second round performance:<\/p>\n

\u201cRSA managed to take all 3 flags within the first few minutes of the game. Once we captured the 3 flags, players were overjoyed, and the tactics we planned didn\u2019t hold up as key players got excited and wanted to play the Hero moment!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the moment was too big for some, as not all the members have professional competition experience. There was no cover from back alleyway and the rear flag got exposed, Finland moved in, and then the match became a roller coaster of flag captures,\u201d said team SA player, Assassin.<\/p>\n

According to Assassin, \u201cThe tactics of international players is totally different to South African players. I have personally competed in over 200 competitive clan matches, and never have I witnessed such unorthodox tactics, weapon skills and accuracy. I will personally take the negative moments of the game and turn this into positive as I have witnessed and learned a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Team South Africa goes up against Belgium on 2 Feb at 9M. The match will be played on Operation Metro.<\/p>\n
