It didn’t happen in 2010. It didn’t happen in 2011. But it just might happen in 2012 – Polytron’s serial Xbox LIVE<\/a> Arcade no-show Fez has been rated by the ESRB<\/a>, which means it’s either close to or completely finished, according to the ESRB’s own classification policies.<\/p>\n

IT’S REALLY HAPPENING, GUYS.<\/p>\n

The happy news comes via Polytron’s Twitter<\/a> stream, which announced in the wee hours of this morning that “FEZ RECEIVES ESRB RATING: E for everyone, mild fantasy violence!”.<\/p>\n

“E FOR EVERYTHING IS REALLY HAPPENING!” reads an update, confirming that, yes, things are really, actually happening.<\/p>\n

Fez has been in development for pretty much forever, and even won an IGF<\/a> award for “Excellence in Visual Art” in 2008 for its totally adorable neo-retro look. The game features platforming gameplay somewhat similar to Paper Mario, with 2D \/ 3D perspective shifts and Escher-like optical illusions.<\/p>\n

For the moment, Fez is scheduled to launch only on XBLA, although Polytron’s Phil Fish has said that the studio is considering “all options”, including PSN<\/a> and PC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A Jaguar release “seems unlikely”, however.<\/p>\n
