In the interests of full disclosure, I should probably preface everything I write about Shogun 2 by saying I am a massive Shogun 2 fan boy, and therefore nothing I write about the game can ever be remotely objective.<\/p>\n

With that out that way:<\/p>\n

OMG GUYS! SEGA HAS ANNOUNCED THAT THE TOTAL WAR: SHOGUN 2 FALL OF THE SAMURAI STANDALONE EXPANSION IS BEING RELEASED ON 23 MARCH, 2012.<\/p>\n

Phew! As testament to just how good Shogun 2 was received, Fall of the Samurai has been the most pre-ordered Total War game to date. Sega has even gone on the record and said that “thousands” of copies have already been pre-ordered, which is actually not that impressive.<\/p>\n

The game will be set in 1863, and will deliver an expanded campaign map; new technology and building trees; and new features such as railways and naval bombardments.<\/p>\n

“We’re delighted that the fans have resonated so positively and quickly towards the latest excellent instalment from Creative Assembly. Shogun 2 has built an incredible audience over the last 12 months and now Fall of the Samurai will continue to build the enjoyment”, said John Clark, director of Digital Distribution.<\/p>\n

You won\u2019t need the original Shogun 2 in order to play Fall of the Samurai, which is not to say you should not go buy it right now if you don\u2019t already own it.<\/p>\n
