Electronic Arts recently published their earnings for the third quarter of the 2012 financial year, with EA Vice President Eric Brown saying their \u201cStar Wars launch was more successful than we anticipated.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Brown, EA have shipped over 2 million units of The Old Republic – not bad for a game so many speculated would flop.<\/p>\n

Apparently 40% of the December sell-through went through Origin.<\/p>\n

Most fans outside of the release territories bent backwards to get their hands on the game, using anonymous proxy servers, online friends, etc to manage a purchase. Presumably many gamers felt that going through Origin for a digital purchase was far safer than making use of other dodgier-looking e-tailers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an outsanding start for an MMO and the metrics on engagement suggests players are loving this game,\u201d said EA, clearly milking it. But they’re not wrong, going further to say \u201cunique log-ins are averaging about one-million per day and their average play time is approximately four hours per day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Definitely not shabby.<\/p>\n

The good folk at EA are also quick to mention the release of a new update in March and that they have an ambitious plan to reach the global market.<\/p>\n
