In an effort to unify various online services, Sony is ditching the nearly 5-year old Playstation Network and ushering in the Sony Entertainment Network, or SEN.<\/p>\n
What does this mean for current PSN users? Not much. You can keep your current PSN ID and password, it is essentially just a name change more fitting of where Sony wants to take the network; in their words, \u201c establishing a global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account.\u201d<\/p>\n
The change will occur on February 8th, with a System Software Update and some new Terms of Service that no one will read.\u00a0 Sony\u2019s currently sending e-mails out to all PSN users notifying them of the change, but if you haven\u2019t yet received yours, here\u2019s a sample:<\/p>\n

On February 8, 2012, your \u201cPlayStation\u00aeNetwork account\u201d<\/strong> will be renamed a \u201cSony Entertainment Network account\u201d or a \u201cSEN account\u201d<\/strong> in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainment\u2019s PlayStation\u00ae3 system software and PlayStation\u00aeVita system software updates. (Note, this change will not be applied to the PSP\u00ae (PlayStation\u00aePortable) system at this time.)<\/p>\n For general purposes, this account change is a change in name only<\/strong>. Your username or password will not change, nor are we asking you to change them. In accordance with this transition, some necessary naming changes will be made to the TOS and Privacy Policy.<\/p>\n This transition is based on Sony\u2019s goal to enhance its unique digital entertainment offering.
