Speaking to Game Informer, The Last Of Us director, Bruce Straley, confirmed that the PS3-exclusive title will have some form of online capabilities.<\/p>\n
But he’s not entirely sure what, yet.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019re going to have some sort of online component,” he said, “We\u2019re working on a bunch of ideas, but we haven\u2019t nailed anything down. We definitely know it\u2019s going to be awesome.”<\/p>\n
Alright, it’s almost a given that games these days come with some sort of online part – even games that are intensively single-player; but should they just put the component in just for the sake of it?<\/p>\n
From what we know about the game, the main focus is on a rather isolated duo in the form of Joel and Ellie – wandering in a post-apocalyptic world. Whether this world opens itself to something more crowded remains to be seen.<\/p>\n
Or perhaps they won’t do multiplayer at all, and go in another direction entirely.<\/p>\n
It’s still early days, with The Last Of Us looking at a likely 2013 release – so there’s still plenty of room for new developments as more information becomes available.<\/p>\n
