The latest issue of Edge magazine contains a massive list of new Far Cry 3 details, specifically pertaining to the game\u2019s missions, characters, gameplay features and more. The details were republished by gamingeverything.com, and we have subsequently scoured their wall of text for the juicier titbits.<\/p>\n

According to Edge, the game will feature open-ended combat. Players will be able to plan attacks in advance, and approach each situation from a variety of angles. Do you go in guns blazing? Perhaps rely on heavy explosives, or pick of your enemies from a distance with a sniper rifle?<\/p>\n

Of course, you could always attach some C4 to a jeep and drive it into their base camp. These are just some of the options that players will be able to consider before going into combat, and Ubisoft has designed the game so that every encounter will contain \u201cstealthy, action-focused and creative approaches\u201d.<\/p>\n

Far Cry 3<\/p><\/div>\n

Edge also revealed that where Far Cry 2 was steeped in \u201chard-edged political cynicism\u201d, the sequel will \u201cfocus on the personal, charting one man\u2019s spiral into violence, and quite possibly madness, on an archipelago where everyone else seems to have a head start.\u201d<\/p>\n

One mission has been described as \u201ca hallucinatory push through an island\u2019s underground caves\u201d. In this missions protagonist Jason Brody is injured and searching for a doctor, and there will not be any shooting.<\/p>\n

Edge also revealed that players will have to contend with wild as well as domestic animals which occupy the island. Game designer Andrea Zanni said \u201cwe have land animals and sea animals. They\u2019ll be there as threats, they\u2019ll be there for you to utilize \u2013 you can go out into the jungle and go hunting, which is all part of Jason growing and surviving on the island. If you go deep into the jungle, you\u2019re going to have some encounters that may not be so pleasant. So they\u2019re a part of the ecology of the island, and really making the island this savage place for the player.\u201d<\/p>\n

Far Cry 3<\/p><\/div>\n

Freedom will apparently be a core feature of both gameplay as well as the game\u2019s narrative, and the development team has focused on making the experience \u201cemotional and raw.\u201d<\/p>\n

A core recurring theme in Far Cry 3 will be madness. The guards on the island appear unhinged, and the main enemy characters come across as completely psychotic, although the developers claim main bad guy Vass is not a psychopath, and that he has a lot of pain, and that \u201ceverything is just an extension of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The team has also hinted that the island has a dark, mysterious history, but they declined to go into detail about this portion of the game.,<\/p>\n
