CD Projekt, developer of critically acclaimed PC RPG The Witcher 2, has revealed that they\u2019re already started working on the engine for their next-gen console games.<\/p>\n
The developer has said they want to produce two AAA games by 2015, with both games \u201cdefinitely starting for new consoles,\u201d says MD Adam Badowski.<\/p>\n
“We prepared a backlog for the new features quite a long time ago,” he said. “You probably know that we’ve decided to develop our new engine that is called Red Engine, so we’ve prepared a long-term plan for that engine. So we are yes, yes we are developing some features just for the new [engine].”<\/p>\n
According to head of marketing Michal Platkow-Gilewski, “We are anticipating what the new generations of consoles may be.”<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t think this means CD Projekt has some kind of inside information, Badowski says they\u2019re working on the basis of “quite powerful but nothing extraordinary” specs, which he says he hopes will equate to a \u201clucky guess”.<\/p>\n
Sticking to what they know, Badowski confirms that one of these titles will indeed be an RPG. He adds, “The whole scenario is quite simple: we’re going to create almost exactly the same kind of team, and our policy is to create RPG games for mature audiences. But of course the second title will be different than the first one. We need to change universe and gameplay mechanics, but the game will be based on a deep scenario as [are] The Witcher games.”<\/p>\n
While working on these new titles, and a new engine, they\u2019re also releasing two smaller \u201cA\u201d games this year, and one \u201cAA\u201d game next year.<\/p>\n
