In news that’s doubtless going to precede a whole lot of speculative whining about how it’s never going to be as good as the original, it looks like there’s a new Baldur’s Gate game in development.<\/p>\n

A new teaser site at BaldursGate.com<\/a> shows the series’ iconic skull, with the words of Candlekeep’s doom prophet Alaundo warning that\u00a0 “The Lord of Murder shall perish, but in his doom he shall spawn a score of mortal progeny, chaos will be sown by their passage.”<\/p>\n According to a report over on GameBanshee, the game is being developed by Beamdog, the company co-founded by BioWare veteran Trent Oster, who worked on the original Baldur’s Gate as well as Neverwinter Nights.<\/p>\n Oster confirmed that the studio is “hoping to announce something soon”, and that this wasn’t related to the Baldur’s Gate complete collection re-release on Steam.<\/p>\n I bet it’s an FPS reboot.
