It’s real, it’s true, it’s totally official – Assassin’s Creed III will be taking place in the land of the free, the home of the brave, and the place where hotdogs would be invented about a hundred years later.<\/p>\n

Confirmation comes via Game Informer’s April cover reveal, featuring the as yet unnamed protagonist.<\/p>\n

According to the blurb, the game is set in the second half of the 18th century, putting it right in the midst of the American Revolution, and it looks like our protagonist is chums with George Washington.<\/p>\n

For those of you who didn’t pay attention in history class, that’s the period when the American colonies on the Atlantic coast decided they’d had quite enough of British rule and started a war.<\/p>\n

Coinciding with GameInformer’s reveal, Ubisoft has also dropped the box art for the game over on Facebook, showing the same assassin doing some nasty business with a tomahawk.<\/p>\n

It’s kind of hard to tell from the artwork, but it’s probably safe to assume that the game’s hero will be a Native American rather than, like, a Quaker or a Puritan or something, although witch-hunting might’ve been fun.<\/p>\n
