After kissing and making up with Bethesda<\/a> parent company Zenimax over the “Scrolls” trademark last week, Mojang is now apparently prohibited from using the word in any future releases.<\/p>\n

You know, because it’s obviously very easy to confuse a game called Scrolls, with Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series – like I’ve always mixed up Total War and World of WarCraft or any game with the word “the” in the title. It’s so hard to tell them apart.<\/p>\n

Mojang had originally tried to secure rights to the name for any sequels in the series, but that was a no go.<\/p>\n

According to the settlement terms, Mojang is allowed to release its Scrolls game, currently in development, without paying any damages to Zenimax – but any sequels will have to have some new name. I think they should call it Curly Paper Manuscript Thingies.<\/p>\n
