SA computer hardware distributor Esquire Technologies<\/a> has announced a distribution agreement with California-based OCZ Technology<\/a> Group Inc., a dominant company in the manufacturing\u00a0 and distribution of solid state drives (SSD).<\/p>\n

Under the terms of the agreement Esquire Technologies will distribute OCZ’s products to its reseller channels throughout its branches in South Africa, and also see to it that these products are on the Virtual Resellers Network (VRN) websites of participating resellers.<\/p>\n

The OCZ Technology Group focusses its expertise on high-speed memory and is a strong player in the manufacturing and distribution of solid state drives (SSDs), a technology that is replacing traditional rotating magnetic hard disk drives (HDDs).<\/p>\n

Asgar Mahomed<\/a>, Managing Director at Esquire technologies commented: “We are excited to partner with OCZ Technology as the Solid State Drive market is on steep growth path especially over the last few months since the flooding in Thailand – which saw traditional hard disk drives prices skyrocketing.”<\/p>\n

Mahomed said that this “has given a window of opportunity for clients to start looking at the SSD drives – especially in the Value Added Resellers (VARs), system builders, SMB, enterprise and gaming markets.”<\/p>\n

Mahomed said that the company\u2019s gaming division has enjoyed stellar results since its launch, with resellers focusing on the gaming enthusiast market \u201csnapping up all of the stock that came in for the launch in the first few days\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said the signing of a distribution agreement with OCZ Technology comes after similar agreements struck with companies such as Razor, Sapphire, and Asus.<\/p>\n

“The gaming industry is booming and we see this being reflected in the rapid growth of our gaming division \u2013 a division we will be focusing on quite aggressively in the coming months,” said Mahomed.<\/p>\n

Mahomed anticipates rapid and consistent growth in the gaming market, adding that management is very pleased that the gaming division, which launched in March 2011, is already accounting for 10% of turnover.<\/p>\n
