Mobile gaming is the new hip thing. With large gaming companies toppling over to the onslaught of small mobile gaming studios…<\/p>\n

What\u2019s that? That part\u2019s not entirely true? Oh well, be that as it may, gaming on your new-fangled smartphone or tablet PC is still pretty great.<\/p>\n

Playing a fantastic game on your morning commute, on your long drives to the beach, or while ruling from the great porcelain throne (oh please, you know it\u2019s true), is something that can brighten anyone\u2019s day. To that end, we have four great titles for you to check out.<\/p>\n

Quell Reflect (Android, iOS)<\/h3>\n

Quell reflect is the sequel to the original Quell. It\u2019s a puzzle game wherein you have to direct a droplet around a maze in an effort to collect all the pearls in the fewest amount of moves.<\/p>\n

Levels come in different shapes and sizes with a variety of obstacles scattered around to spice things up. Levels are generally not hard to complete, but can be devilishly difficult to finish perfectly.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s relaxing entertainment and definitely worth checking out.<\/p>\n

iOS users can pick it up for $0.99, while Android users can expect to pay UK\u00a30.99.<\/p>\n

Quell Reflect<\/p><\/div>\n

Osmos HD (Android, iOS)<\/h3>\n

In Osmos you play a mote and your objective is to grow larger by absorbing other smaller motes.<\/p>\n

You propel your mote forward by tapping on the side that you want to move from. This fires a little piece of you in the direction you tapped, which then propels you in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n

Levels can be oddly shaped and may contain a plethora of motes or just a few, and these may be \u201csmart\u201d or \u201cdumb\u201d (i.e. they may move similarly to you or they might just drift around).<\/p>\n

There are many levels and various modes, and it can keep you entertained for a good while with its glowing graphics and quirky soundtrack.<\/p>\n

iPhone and iPad users can expect to pay $2.99 and $4.99 respectively, while Android users will be shelling out CA$2.99 for the one version that runs properly on both phones and tablets. Unconvinced Android users can also pick up the demo from the Android Market.<\/p>\n

Osmos HD<\/p><\/div>\n

Anomaly HD (Android, iOS)<\/h3>\n

Anomaly is, essentially, a topsy-turvy tower defense. That is, you get to play the invader instead of the defender.<\/p>\n

Before you begin a level, you get to select which units you take in and your initial route. You can change your route as the level progresses. There are also items, like repair or smoke screens, that you can use to help you complete the level using as few pieces as possible. These items are obviously limited, but you do get drops as you scurry through.<\/p>\n

Controls are, rather surprisingly, well suited to touch screens. I actually found myself enjoying it more on my tablet than on my PC (my therapist is \u201cconcerned\u201d).<\/p>\n

Both Android and iOS users will be charged the low low price of $3.99.<\/p>\n

Anomaly HD<\/p><\/div>\n

Angry Birds Space<\/h3>\n

As if it needs any introduction, Angry Birds Space is the latest in the smash hit Angry Birds franchise from Rovio Entertainment.<\/p>\n

The space faring birds will encounter new gameplay mechanics, such as gravity wells around large objects. There are 60 gravity-defying levels, 30 brain-teaser levels, an additional Golden Eggsteroid episode and iOS achievements via the Game Centre.<\/p>\n
