Blizzard<\/a> has confirmed that the fifth expansion for World of Warcraft, the one scheduled for after Mists of Pandaria, is already in development.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s more than one in the works as well; according to Blizzard COO Paul Sams<\/a>, the WoW team already knows what it\u2019ll do for \u201cmultiple expansions ahead\u201d.<\/p>\n

The COO is already pretty excited for the expansion to come after the expansion after Mists of Pandaria (did you follow that?).<\/p>\n

“I got the pitch from Chris Metzen<\/a> of what they plan for 6.0 and I’m pretty geeked up about it. They already know what they’re going to be doing for multiple expansions ahead.”<\/p>\n

The COO spent a bit of time discussing expansion number 5, explaining that the lore of the game dictates the direction of the development of the online world.<\/p>\n

“They have an idea – a general framework. They’re these lore creators. They’re the ones who drive what the world looks like today and what it’ll be like tomorrow and beyond.<\/p>\n

“I think the future of World Of Warcraft continues to be bright and I think Mists of Pandaria is going to breathe huge life into what I believe is the best MMO out there. I think the number of people we have playing and the level of enthusiasm they have for the game suggests that to be the case.”<\/p>\n

“This is the next of many ways in which we’re going to grow and improve and evolve this game,” he concludes.<\/p>\n

Blizzard\u2019s MMO cash cow has lost a bit of steam since The Old Republic\u2019s release, but the company is clearly showing no signs of slowing down.<\/p>\n
