MyGaming recently ran its SA gaming survey to find out more about the habits and trends among South Africa\u2019s gaming community.<\/p>\n

With a sample of 1045 responses, we are now getting a much better picture of the high-end SA gaming market.<\/p>\n

Previously we revealed that 78.66% of the survey participants played online games, and that ADSL is by far the most popular broadband connection type among SA’s gamers.<\/p>\n

Of the sample, 77.84% were ADSL users, and we asked them which ADSL Internet Service Provider’s (ISPs) they used to find out the most popular ISP for SA’s online gamers.<\/p>\n

The following table provides an overview of the survey feedback. The results are ordered according to popularity.<\/p>\n

MWEB<\/a> has a clear lead, with Afrihost<\/a> and Telkom<\/a> battling it out for second. It is possible that Telkom enjoys a strong position among SA’s gamers through their DoBroadband bundles which include ADSL line rental and monthly bandwidth in a single payment – an arguable convenience factor.<\/p>\n

In the “other” category are the likes of Axxess, FNB Connect, RSAWeb, and Gconnect.<\/p>\n

It is also interesting to note that of the total sample, 78.66% of the survey participants play online games, while 77.84% were ADSL users. This may indicate that the other types of internet connection used by survey participants aren’t popular for online gaming purposes. These connection types included 3G data services from mobile operators, iBurst, and Neotel. More information on that topic can be found in the related article below.<\/p>\n
