In terms of \u201cout-witting, overcharging\u201d and \u201coutlasting\u201d other companies, EA has beaten the likes of Best Buy, Gamestop and Sony to make it into the quarter-finals of The Consumerist\u2019s list of the worst companies in America, 2012.<\/p>\n
The \u201cWorst Company in America\u201d challenge was launched two weeks ago, featuring 32 businesses from a variety of industries, including gaming, which this year was represented by Gamestop, EA and Sony.<\/p>\n
EA\u2019s \u201cconsistently high prices\u201d, \u201cDLC blitzes\u201d and its quiet support of SOPA were cited as reasons for its inclusion, while Sony\u2019s recent security issues and subsequent change to its PSN terms of service made it a prime candidate.<\/p>\n
EA knocked out Sony quite easily though, with a comfortable 81 percent of the vote. In the next round, EA beat Best Buy with 66 percent of the vote. Gamestop was then kicked out by Walmart.<\/p>\n
EA will now go up against Comcast for a shot at the semi-finals, while PayPal and Walmart go head to head. Facebook has also made the final 8, alongside AT&T, Bank of America and Ticketmaster.<\/p>\n
Voting on the remaining 8 companies is currently open, and the final four should be announced tomorrow.<\/p>\n
