The South African Film and Publication Board<\/a> has called out for the public to have their say in the classification process of games, films and certain publications.<\/p>\n

The FPB issued\u00a0guidelines<\/a> in February this year, which detailed some of the content that may deem harmful to the digital medium, such as “extreme violence”, “extreme sexual content” and “blasphemy”. These are planned to be used to provide classifications of films and video games within the country, in order to\u00a0categorize\u00a0certain restrictions if necessary.<\/p>\n

The FPB has now issued a request for public input<\/a> in regards to the classification and\u00a0guideline\u00a0process of the\u00a0initiative. Essentially, the goal is to get public input on what is determined as “harmful” to viewers and children in order to make informed decisions about how the FPB should classify and restrict films and video games in South Africa.<\/p>\n
