Empire: Total War is undoubtedly one of the most exiting titles currently announced for 2009. Empire is the fifth installment of the popular Total War series, and spans the 1700s and 1800s. Like its predecessors, Empire allows players to choose a faction with which to dominate the globe using military, political, espionage and economic means.<\/p>\n
The game will be broken into two distinct game types. Control over the broader campaign is exercised using a turn based strategy mechanism. This enables players to mobilize armies, take over lands, develop towns etc. The second important element is the real time strategy battle mode, which takes players to a 3D rendered close up of the action.<\/p>\n
Empire will be the first of the Total War series to implement naval battles.<\/p>\n
The demo sounds considerably meaty, featuring a tutorial as well as the ability to play two historic scenarios. Playing as the British Empire, you’ll take on the American Army in the pivotal ‘Battle of Brandywine Creek’ and then the French Navy in the decisive ‘Battle of Lagos’.<\/p>\n
Sega has confirmed that the demo will be going live today, February 20 at 4pm GMT (6PM SA time) and will be available on STEAM. The full version of the game is set for a March 3 release, and should be available locally on March 13.<\/p>\n
