The rumours surrounding Sony’s hinted reveal<\/a> to be a God of War game have proven true, although its not God of War IV<\/a>.<\/p>\n

God of War: Ascension is the new Sony title from their Santa Monica studio, and looks set to go back in time as a prequel within the famed hack and slash series.<\/p>\n

Sony haven’t actually revealed the game, but Amazon seemed got the jump on the story and posted a teaser trailer and box art (whether final or not).<\/p>\n

The trailer itself shows no gameplay, but is narrated by none other than Gaia herself, as she speaks about a time before Kratos’ was “bound by blood”, further adding weight to the notion of the game being a prequel.<\/p>\n

Amazon describes the game: “Join Kratos as he seeks freedom, redemption, and the clarity to avenge his family in the most ambitious God of War adventure in the series so far.”<\/p>\n

Although we would’ve liked to see where the series went after God of War III, the idea surrounding a game chronicling Kratos’ time as a Spartan general and his rise to power sounds enticing (if it is to be true).<\/p>\n
