Many console gamers import their games from international e-tailers such as Shopto.net. The motivation being that doing so is almost always significantly cheaper than the cost of buying the same games locally.<\/p>\n
According to a report on Hellopeter<\/a>, one unlucky shopto.net client has had his copy of Killzone 2 detained at Customs under the suspicion that the game in question is counterfeit.<\/p>\n The complainant states that SterKinekor, who is the sole local distributer for the game, has declared that the game is illegal.<\/p>\n The user reports that “another 10 people are having this exact problem” although we could not confirm this at the time of publication.<\/p>\n We are quite certain that Shopto.net is not in the business of selling counterfeit software as they are a reputable business.We are also not aware of PS3 titles being pirated at this point in time.<\/p>\n However, the issue of the game being counterfeit may not be linked to the actual copy itself, but is perhaps rather related to the various intellectual property trade agreements that are in place that limit grey import activity.<\/p>\n SterKinekor had not replied to the Hellpeter post, but we have managed to get a response.<\/p>\n UPDATE<\/strong><\/p>\n SterKinekor has stated that they are in no way involved in the halting of imported games at SA customs.<\/p>\n
