Taking a look at which consoles were most successful throughout their lifespan, which piece of gaming hardware have stood the test of time?<\/p>\n<p><strong>15. Sega Saturn (1994) \u2013 9.5 million<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>14. NEC TurboGrafx-16 (1987) \u2013 10 million<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>13. Sony PlayStation 2 (2000) \u2013 154.4 million *<\/h3>\n<p>Although the answer was fairly obvious, it\u2019s undeniably impressive that despite the drastic growth of gaming and video game culture since the launch of the current-gen consoles, the Playstation 2 still stands strong as the highest-selling console of all time.<\/p>\n<p>The Playstation 2 didn\u2019t have it easy though, as <a title=\"Nintendo \" href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/11857-Nintendo\">Nintendo<\/a> put up some good competition with their GameCube console, which had the power of Mario behind it and four-controller ports, making it an appealing prospect.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Microsoft\" href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/11861-Microsoft\">Microsoft<\/a> also tried their hand at the console market, and thanks to the likes of Halo and their Xbox Live service, the original Xbox was a great success.<\/p>\n<p>But the PS2 still came out the victor, and what set the PlayStation 2 apart was the Sony brand (as gamers had familiarised themselves once before with the original Playstation). More importantly, it was the impressive library of games that made it an easy sell.<\/p>\n<p>With GTA\u2019s San Andreas and Vice City, Gran Turismo 3 and 4, Metal Gear Solid 2, Jak &amp; Daxter, God of War 1 and 2, and the original Devil May Cry trilogy, it\u2019s not hard to see why Sony\u2019s reliable console managed to become the undisputed king of the sixth-generation of consoles, and the highest selling video game system of all time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/PS2-console.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-36719 aligncenter\" title=\"PS2 console\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/PS2-console.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"368\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/PS2-console.jpg 640w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/PS2-console-300x184.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/PS2-console-250x153.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What do you think of the list?
