With the reveal of God of War: Ascension<\/a> still rather recent, game director Todd Papy<\/a> has unveiled the newest addition to the god-killing franchise – multiplayer.<\/p>\n

In a recent press event, Papy showed off a demonstration of the game’s competitive multiplayer, which allows players to create their own Spartan warrior.<\/p>\n

The created characters have a choice to worship one of four gods: Zeus, Poseidon, Hades or Ares. Each god grants special abilities, weapons and armor to the created character. Battling and acquiring experience points will allow players to gain access to new weapons, abilities and add-ons.<\/p>\n

During the demo, a variety of spears, swords, hammers and shields were shown, although it’s not clear which weapon is attributed to which god. However, each player did wield a chain-based weapon, similar to that of Kratos’ Blades of Chaos.<\/p>\n

The game mode, known as ‘Domination’, pitted 8 players together in a 4v4 match-up where the two teams had to battle to restrain a titan-sized Cyclops and obtain the Spear of Olympus, which will be used to defeat the opposing team and Cyclops.<\/p>\n

The Cyclops was ensnared in chains, which required fastening from cranks placed around the map. Players had to fend off one another while making sure the cranks and chains held tight.<\/p>\n

Papy also revealed that there will be between five and seven different multiplayer maps with more modes also still in development.<\/p>\n

He couldn’t confirm if Kratos would make an appearance in multiplayer, and didn’t deal out any more information regarding the story mode.<\/p>\n
