Not everybody loved Will Wright’s latest brainchild Spore, but that is not to say that the game was a failure.<\/p>\n
Indeed, it managed to be downloaded more than any other PC game in 2008, which has got to count for something.<\/p>\n
Spore allows players to control the development of their own species. From its meager beginnings as a microscopic organism fighting for survival in a sort of primordial soup, players can customize body parts, eating habits and behavioral tendencies. The gameplay evolves along with the species, going through various stages, beginning at the Cell stage, the moving on to the Creature, Tribal, Civilization and finally ending in the Space stage where players can take their finally evolved species and explore the galaxy.<\/p>\n
The game ultimately disappointed many by being a bit too broad and lacking focus. We would have liked more depth in the various evolutionary stages, but as a whole Spore was quite enjoyable.<\/p>\n
EA Maxis has recently announced that in true EA Maxis style, they will be releasing the first of four planned expansion packs for Spore. Spore: Galactic Adventures is currently scheduled for release on June 23, with pricing yet to be announced.<\/p>\n
Apparently, the expansion pack will be more than just a content pack, and will aim to expand the space exploration element of the game, which is essentially the final and most in-depth stage. It will also introduce a separate branch of Spore to play in.<\/p>\n
EA Maxis is planning three additional expansions for the game.<\/p>\n
