In order to reproduce the success Ubisoft<\/a> had with their Montreal studio, the company plans to invest $500m (R3,86 billion) into their growing Toronto division.<\/p>\n

Ubisoft Montreal are credited with front-running games for the company, such as the Assassin’s Creed and Prince of Persia series, and the developing\/publishing house wants their new development studio to be of the calibre of their leading branch.<\/p>\n

The Toronto studio, which was founded in 2009 by ex-Assassin’s Creed producer Jade Raymond<\/a>, is currently working on Rainbow Six: Patriots, the long awaited next instalment in the Tom Clancy series; along with a new unannounced Splinter Cell game.<\/p>\n

The studio has around 210 programmers and designers, with the boost planning to take the development team to over 800 in the next ten years.<\/p>\n

The Ontario government are also recognising the studio’s contribution by throwing in another $266 million USD (over R2 billion) over the next decade.<\/p>\n

So start expecting big things from Ubisoft Toronto, as their mandate is to produce the company’s next big IP within the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n
