Global phenomenon Draw Something is one of the most fun things you can do for free. The Pictionary-esque game asks users to scribble drawings on their tablets and phones for friends and strangers, who then have to guess what the picture is.<\/p>\n
And like most free things a ton of people look at, the real money is in the advertising. Casual gaming overlord Zynga, who recently acquired Draw Something (along with its developer, OMGPop), are planning to monetise the game in just that fashion by adding real-world products to the lists of clues for users to draw.<\/p>\n
The NHL has recently signed up, adding puck, Zamboni, hat trick and slap shot to the clues list. In addition Zynga has also been adding the likes of Doritos, KFC and Nike.<\/p>\n
Dan Porter, Zynga\u2019s New York General Manager and VP-mobile said, “People loved to draw the Colonel and bags of Doritos.\u201d<\/p>\n
Zynga is also reportedly looking for brands to provide real rewards for success in the game, but this is yet to be confirmed. In terms of in-game advertising, it\u2019s refreshing to see it in a way that\u2019s actually fun rather than annoying.<\/p>\n
