{"id":37361,"date":"2012-05-08T16:39:09","date_gmt":"2012-05-08T14:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=37361"},"modified":"2012-05-09T12:56:48","modified_gmt":"2012-05-09T10:56:48","slug":"super-meat-boy-dev-on-everything-thats-wrong-with-mobile-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/37361-super-meat-boy-dev-on-everything-thats-wrong-with-mobile-games","title":{"rendered":"Super Meat Boy dev on everything that&#8217;s wrong with mobile games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Team Meat\" href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/24744-Team-Meat\">Team Meat<\/a> is working on a mobile version of Super Meat Boy, but it won&#8217;t be like <em>other<\/em> mobile games, because <em>other<\/em> mobile games are bad.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s according to Team Meat&#8217;s own <a title=\"Edmund McMillen\" href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/24741-Edmund-McMillen\">Edmund McMillen<\/a>, who slagged off the current state of touchscreen mobile games in a blog post about development on Super Meat Boy for mobile devices.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our main focus is currently to really examine the mobile playing field to see what companies do right, and what they do wrong. As many of you may have noticed, there is a whole sh** load of wrong out there these days, from abusive and manipulative money making tactics, to flat out stealing,&#8221; he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To us the core of what is wrong with the mobile platform is the lack of respect for players, it really seems like a large number of these companies out there view their audience as dumb cattle who they round up, milk and then send them on their way feeling empty or at times violated.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Criticising developers for basically selling game progression, McMillen added that &#8220;Words can not express how f**king wrong and horrible this is, for games, for gamers and for the platform as a whole&#8230; this business tactic is a slap in the face to actual game design and embodies everything that is wrong with the mobile\/casual video game scene.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As for Super Meat Boy on mobile devices, McMillen promised &#8220;its content will rival the original, but in very
