In fact, America wasn&#8217;t even America until 1783, and the events of Assassin&#8217;s Creed III precede that, and back then, America was basically England.<\/p>\n<p>So we&#8217;ll have none of that go-go-Team-America stuff in the game like the end of Call of Duty: Black Ops, Ubisoft has assured everybody. Okay, they didn&#8217;t specifically mention that game but I bet they were thinking it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt that point it\u2019s not about American or English; it\u2019s about English and English and that\u2019s something we want to be very clear on. It\u2019s not about America Ra Ra it\u2019s about freedom and community and about how people are treated in that kind of a situation. And how they want to find their own identity. I think that\u2019s something that\u2019s universal to anybody,&#8221; lead writer Matt Turner told OXM.<\/p>\n<p>That also means not pretending that things like slavery didn&#8217;t happen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s something we\u2019ve been very aware of. Everybody had slaves at that point; the first groups who rallied around emancipation didn\u2019t come around until 1787 \u2013 largely driven by Benjamin Franklin funnily enough. That was very much after our game and slavery was maintained in culture,&#8221; Turner explained.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We feel that kind of a subject deserves a certain amount attention because it\u2019s so serious and it needs to be treated with utmost respect.\u00a0We\u2019re definitely not going to shy away from it in terms of not showing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Assassin&#8217;s Creed III is due out in
