Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was released in 2007 to critical acclaim. The PS3 exclusive action adventure game was praised for its technical achievements and high-quality production values.<\/p>\n
Sony is promising that the sequel, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, will live up to the standard of the original. Among Thieves also promises to introduce new gameplay mechanics, including the opportunity to take the enemy on using stealth.<\/p>\n
The developers are promising a new level of environmental interaction. For example, players will be able to flip over desks and take cover. Naughty Dog has also claimed that the manner in which the player interacts with walls has been revamped, and is now similar to the mechanics employed in Assassin’s Creed.<\/p>\n
We can already see that the climbing, swinging and general obstacle traversing has been much improved in the leaked gameplay footage. Based on the low quality Youtube leak, we can already tell that the level of environmental interaction and character animation will be outstanding.<\/p>\n
Naughty Dog has also claimed that Among Thieves will have no loading screens. This means one continuous and fluid experience if executed correctly.<\/p>\n
In terms of the story, there is still not much information available. We know that players will once again step into the shoes of Nathan Drake. This time around, Drake delves into the mysteries that surround 13th century explorer Marco Polo.<\/p>\n
In Among Thieves, Drake is pursuing the Cintamani Stone, which is a crystal that is said to grant the holder a wish. Drake, however, is not the only one interested in acquiring the crystal.<\/p>\n
The original was one of the best looking console games available when it was released back in 2007. Based on the screen shots we expect that Among Thieves will push the boundaries further still.<\/p>\n
With the likes of Drakes Fortune 2: Among Thieves and God of War 3 on the horizon, the PS3’s game catalogue for the next 18 months is looking very strong.<\/p>\n
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has yet to be given a release date, but we are anticipating a late 2009 or early 2010 release.<\/p>\n
