It’s less than a week to go to the Diablo III launch, and all over the world, gamers are already stocking up on frozen pizza and beer and good excuses for missing work.<\/p>\n
But what about the technical stuff like how to create a BattleTag and preload the game? Blizzard’s got you covered there with this compact, easy-to-use Launch Day Preparation Guide.<\/p>\n
The most important thing to note, though, is that with the expected volume of server traffic expected, Blizzard has warned that they might have to stagger login attempts to keep everything from collapsing in a big heap.<\/p>\n
“As we\u2019ve unlocked the Diablo III installer early, many people will be ready to log in right when the servers go live at midnight, so we\u2019re going to be closely monitoring the impact on the service. It\u2019s possible we\u2019ll need to adjust the rate at which we\u2019re logging people in to ensure a stable experience, and if we do you may see a delay when attempting to login. Please be aware that a delay of up to 40 seconds is possible while the game attempts to connect you. If your connection doesn\u2019t succeed in 40 seconds, you\u2019ll be presented with an Error 37 message and asked to try again. If you see this error it does in fact mean that you should try again.”<\/p>\n
Now we just wait and watch while everything collapses anyway.<\/p>\n
Diablo III launches on Tuesday, 14 May. Several local retailers including Kalahari, BT Games, and Zaps are holding midnight launches for those of you who want to get in the login queue early.<\/p>\n
