Sorry we’re not able to do business at this time, hopefully the situation will improve in the future and we’ll be able to start shipping there again.

Regards,

ShopTo Support”

Another member of the forum received this message in an email:

“Hi Jarrod,

Did you read this on a gaming forum? Unfortunately we are starting the process of removing South African sales from our website, as the majority of orders are sadly not reaching their destination.

Regards,

ShopTo Support“

While these reports are pouring in, many local ShopTo users have said that they have been able to make orders as per usual, with money debited from their accounts and order tracking numbers provided.

ShopTo removed South Africa from the available countries list in the selection tab which users enter their delivery addresses into. This means that it is now impossible for new users in South Africa to open ShopTo accounts and have games delivered locally.

While it appears that it is still possible for those who already possess active ShopTo accounts to order games, it remains to be seen if the games will actually be delivered. It would appear as though ShopTo is in the process of removing SA from their list of supported countries, which means that while some features have been disabled for South Africans, others are still working. This does not necessarily mean that the games will get to their destination though.

MyGaming contacted ShopTo and they were unable to comment at the time of publication.

Update

We have received confirmation from ShopTo that South Africa is in fact in the process of being removed from their list of officially supported delivery destinations. The first step has been the removal of South Africa as a selectable option on the delivery information tab.

Apparently an unusually high number of games have not found their destination when being imported into South Africa. This has led to ShopTo having to send multiple copies of games. In many cases, it is suspected that users are filing failure notices prematurely, only to receive their game after already having notified ShopTo. This has resulted in the etailer having to send out an additional copy of the game.

The good news however, is that ShopTo will not be canceling all of their South African client’s accounts, only those that “registered an unusual number of failed delivery claims”.

This means that users with active ShopTo accounts will be able to continue importing games from the etailers, but users yet to have created accounts may not do so using a local address.

It also means that those suspected of exploiting ShopTo, by registering fraudulent delivery failure claims, will have their accounts disabled.

Discuss ShopTo on the forums

[2

post-3782","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-business
["GET
