During a recent THQ<\/a> investor conference, the publisher dealt out some updates and details regarding their upcoming games.<\/p>\n

Despite THQ’s recent financial concerns,\u00a0the primary focus was on Obsidean’s South Park RPG, as well as Devil’s Third, the upcoming game from Ninja Gaiden’s Tomonobu Itagaki.<\/p>\n

The company announced that the South Park RPG has now been pushed back to next year, slipping into the 2013 release schedule. The delay comes as a result of the development process requiring some more time.<\/p>\n

The RPG is rumoured to be titled “The Stick of Truth” and will include turn-based combat, classes, weapon augmentation and other RPG mechanics.<\/p>\n

Another issue on the agenda was the current status of the upcoming action game, Devil’s Third, which was first announced in 2010.<\/p>\n

THQ now feel that their publishing company is not the right home for Devil’s Third, as CEO Brian Farrell<\/a> said that the game no longer “fits THQ’s profile.”<\/p>\n

THQ originally helped Devil’s Third transition into new technology after the original company went out of business, although the publisher now wants to see the game published through a third-party company.<\/p>\n

On the upside of things, THQ did announce that they had seen healthy growth of some of their core games, as Saints Row: The Third, WWE 12 and UFC Undisputed 3 all fared very well over the last fiscal year.<\/p>\n

Brian Farrell also mentioned Darksiders II, and said that “we look forward to launching Darksiders [2] beginning on August 14 in North America”, which should see the game releasing locally on Friday, 17 August 2012 if the history of game release trends is anything to go by, although nothing is confirmed.<\/p>\n
