Gamers around the world deserve a chance to play every great new game, and by waiving distribution fees on Origin we can help make that a reality for successfully crowd-funded developers.”

One of Kickstarter’s biggest success stories, Brian Fargo of Wasteland 2, also responded to the announcement.

“I have had a long relationship with EA and it is great to see them recognise and support the crowd-funded games model,” he said.

“Having Origin waive their distribution fees for 90 days for fan funded games is a major economic bonus for small developers. We look forward to bringing Wasteland 2 to the Origin audience.”

This kind of offer may get a little more support behind the Origin service, which hasn’t been a favourite amongst gamers due to EA’s decision to pull their games from Steam and make their big-name titles require Origin to play. This method of attracting users to Origin seems a step in the right direction to getting more of the community on their side.

Source: Eurogamer

Related articles

Scam project shows up on Kickstarter

Gaming-focused Kickstarter alternative launching at E3

Wasteland 2 Kickstarter closes, banks over triple its target

Gabe Newell: “Origin isn’t doing anything well yet”

Notch thinks EA’s Origin is a good thing

EA voted worst gaming company in America

[2,3
2398,175,813,21,2366,1851,2739
post-38098","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-pc","tag-brian-fargo","tag-ea","tag-electronic-arts","tag-headline","tag-kickstarter","tag-origin","tag-wasteland-2
["GET
