David Cage<\/a>, the man behind Heavy Rain and studio Quantic Dream<\/a>, has said that\u2019s he\u2019s not all that interested in next-gen consoles or their technology.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t exactly what you\u2019d expect to hear from a man who is well-known for pushing the technological limits of consoles. However, he\u2019d be quite happy to keep on pushing those limits, for another five years at least.<\/p>\n

“We invest a lot in technologies and tools. We’re a very tools-centric company, with about 40 engineers all working on technology right now,” said Cage.<\/p>\n

“But to be honest, I’m not that interested in technology or the next generation of consoles. If we could continue with PlayStation 3<\/a> for another five years it would be fine with me,” he continued.<\/p>\n

According to the developer, he\u2019s far more interested in challenging himself creatively rather than technically. Cage is quite happy to work within the confines of current technology, rather than have a lot more power to play with.<\/p>\n

“I think the main challenges are on the creative side than on the technical side. Are there technical things I can’t do on PS3? Honestly, no. The limitation is much more about the ideas we have. When you look at the past, you realise that the technology evolved [much] faster than the concepts we rely on.”<\/p>\n

When pressed about his lack of enthusiasm, Cage made a pretty feeble effort to dial it up a notch, “I suppose it is interesting, in a way. It’s more stuff to play with, I guess.” Inspiring stuff.<\/p>\n
