Capcom<\/a>, having revealed DmC back in late 2010 during the Tokyo Game Show (TGS), has now announced a release date for the somewhat contentious Devil May Cry series parallelo-game.<\/p>\n

DmC will hit PS3<\/a> and Xbox 360<\/a> on 15 January 2013 in both North America and Europe, and as usual, we presume South Africa falls under the European release date. Capcom also confirmed that a PC version is under development and will be out sometime in 2013.<\/p>\n

DmC is the fifth title in the franchise, but Capcom decided to drop the numbers and go with a minimalist abbreviation – ostensibly a reboot. They also made a few more changes to the series that fans weren’t too pleased with.<\/p>\n

One of these big changes was the decision to hire third-party UK-based developer Ninja Theory (Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West) to create the game – the first time a Devil May Cry title has not been developed in-house by Japanese Capcom.<\/p>\n

Along with the developer change came an appearance reboot for series protagonist Dante, who gamers will be re-introduced to as a teenager set in a universe that runs parallel to that established in the previous games.<\/p>\n

Capcom has released a bit of biographical information on one of Dante’s companions, named Kat.<\/p>\n

Kat is a former runaway that joined The Order very early in her life. She is a medium and a gifted psychic who can see into Limbo, the demon realm, but not directly interact with it in the way that Dante does. She is the right hand girl to the Leader of The Order and devotes her life to him, often putting herself in grave danger to gather intelligence from Limbo.<\/p>\n

There is a sweet innocence about Kat\u2019s world view and logic, but when it comes to her specialist subject, the demon realm, she is an undoubted expert. Kat is The Order\u2019s \u2018eyes and ears\u2019 and is tasked with guiding Dante on his mission through Limbo.<\/p>\n

With E3<\/a> 2012 just around the corner, interested DmC fans can expect loads more info, trailers and screenshots to emerge form the expo, so watch this space.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
