One of Minecraft Xbox Edition’s big features is four-player splitscreen. One of the things it didn’t mention in the ad, though, is that this mode is supported only on HDTVs. Put these two things together, and you get a whole lot of angry people, although I’m not sure what they’re angrier about – that the mode isn’t supported on their pre-war tech, or that mom won’t buy them an HDTV.<\/p>\n
Anyway, the good news is that Microsoft has decided to give them their money back. Maybe they can use it to save up for a real TV.<\/p>\n
“We updated our pre-sale notification to inform customers that an HD screen is required for the split-screen multiplayer feature on Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition,” a Microsoft rep told Kotaku. “If a player does not have an HD screen and purchased this game prior to the notification update, they are eligible for a full refund through customer support.”<\/p>\n
The game’s product page has also been updated to include the important information that: “To experience split-screen functionality a high-definition television is required.”<\/p>\n
And they all lived happily ever after.<\/p>\n
