The long-awaited reboot to 1993’s X-Com has finally secured a release date after jumping around for quite some time.<\/p>\n
XCOM: Enemy Unknown will release on 9 October 2012.<\/p>\n
Not to be confused with 2K<\/a> Marin\u2019s XCOM re-imagining (which will be a shooter), one of the world\u2019s most revered strategy developers, Firaxis<\/a>, has confirmed that their turn-based strategy reboot of the iconic XCOM franchise will make the 2012 release schedule.<\/p>\n XCOM: Enemy Unknown will strive to remain true to the original, bringing tactical strategy and action-oriented gameplay.<\/p>\n “We were careful to keep XCOM: Enemy Unknown true to the elements that made X-COM such a revered game while delivering an entirely new story and gameplay experience for both die-hard X-COM fans and newcomers to the franchise,” \u00a0said Steve Martin<\/a>, president of Firaxis Games in an early interview for the game.<\/p>\n XCOM: Enemy Unknown will also feature destructible and dynamic environments, and an adjustable strategic camera view.<\/p>\n Some pre-order incentives have also been revealed, making the 19 year wait that much tougher.<\/p>\n Pre-orders will get the Elite Soldier Pack, and will receive a classic X-COM soldier, who will be available to recruit from the get-go, along with a bunch of aesthetic armour upgrades.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
