According to sources at Fudzilla the next instalment, from development team Treyarch, in the popular Call of Duty franchise will be set in Vietnam.<\/p>\n
Although Modern Warfare 2 was announced as the follow up to Call of Duty Modern Warfare it will not carry the Call of Duty title. Modern Warfare 2 is set for release in November and it is being developed by Infinity Ward.<\/p>\n
For the next official Call of Duty title gamers will have to keep an eye on new developments from Treyarch.<\/p>\n
Talk on the ground is that Noah Heller will be the Treyarch producer for the studio’s follow up and that the game will be set in the Vietnam War. A change in scenery makes sense as the World War II theme has been squeezed dry. The Vietnam War, which ended in 1975 and was conducted by American forces against communist North Vietnamese troops, namely the Vietcong, provides an ideal back drop.<\/p>\n
It has also been rumoured that producers considered using African, Cuban or Russian scenarios as settings for the follow up. Many believe that Treyarch’s next release in the Call of Duty Range will be set in the Cold War and titles such as Call of Duty: Cold War are already being thrown around in gaming forums across the globe.<\/p>\n
The movement to a Vietnam theme would undoubtedly pose many new challengers for developers. There has been no confirmation as yet but it is likely that an announcement will be made at this year’s E3 Expo in Los Angeles in June.<\/p>\n
