However, Codemasters has announced that the game will be pushed back, and is now looking at a August\/September release.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shacknews.com\/onearticle.x\/58526\" target=\"_blank\">Shacknews<\/a>, the game is being held back in order to &#8220;balance the player experience throughout the game.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is set on a small island off the north coast of Japan called Skira. The island is a contested territory, with Russia and China both claiming ownership of it. The player takes on the role of US marine fighting on behalf of the Russians.<\/p>\n<p>Codemasters claims to have copied the 277.698 km2 island accurately. This means that the game should avoid commonly used game design mechanics, and will not rely on over used video game set pieces and strategies.<\/p>\n<p>Codemasters is aiming for realism and authenticity with Dragon Rising. The real world location will be accessible as an open world, and players will be able to plan missions in detail, from assigning particular soldiers to their team, to specifying landing zones and entry points. Amidst the open world setting, players will have to take into account the presence of random enemy patrols, weather affects and environmental damage.<\/p>\n<p>Everything in Dragon Rising will be destructible. Buildings can be reduced to rubble, and vehicles such as tractors and bulldozers can be destroyed. Once something in Dragon Rising is destroyed, it stays that way for the rest of the campaign, meaning that players will have to be careful not to destroy important cover that they may need in later missions. All buildings can be entered, and all vehicles can be operated.<\/p>\n<p>The gameplay on Skira will rely heavily on enemy A.I.
