Fans of DotA will be glad to know that Valve’s<\/a> take on the MOBA genre, DOTA 2, will be free to play when the action-strategy game goes live.<\/p>\n

Valve confirmed the news, and said that the free-to-play structure allows for the game to be fair and free from destructive game design.<\/p>\n

DOTA 2’s in-game store will charge players for items to customise their characters, although this will be completely aesthetic and won’t have any effect on gameplay.<\/p>\n

The DOTA 2 store will allow users to purchase content and use the items immediately one the game is released.<\/p>\n

Users not involved in beta testing will receive a code for immediate access if they purchase the Early Access Bundle of items.<\/p>\n

“The opening of the Dota Store is a big part of our final push to launch,” revealed DOTA 2 <\/em>lead designer IceFrog<\/a>.<\/p>\n

DOTA 2 will also be part of the Steam<\/a> Workshop, allowing users to upload content that they’ve created for the game.<\/p>\n
