It’s been out less than a month, but with 2 million copies sold and $40 million cash in the bank, the Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition is already the biggest thing ever on the Xbox LIVE Arcade.<\/p>\n
The announcement comes via Microsoft Game Studios portfolio director Chris Charla, who officially mentioned on Twitter that “I guess I can officially mention Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has crossed 2,000,000 in sales on XBLA.”<\/p>\n
Although Castle Crashers has technically sold more copies, with more than 2.6 million purchases confirmed at the end of last year, Minecraft’s $20 pricetag puts Mojang’s blockbuster just ahead of Behemoth’s $15 side-scroll-’em-upper.<\/p>\n
Minecraft for Xbox pushed 400,000 downloads on its 7 May launch day, and one million copies over the next five days. On PC, the game recently totalled up to 6 million sales, and between all versions of the game (including the iOS Pocket Edition), Minecraft now has over 9 million sales. Apparently digging holes and riding pigs is what all the cool kids are doing now.<\/p>\n
