While the debate surrounding pre-owned (or secondhand) games ruining the video game industry continues, Nintendo<\/a> have come out with a realistic stance on the matter.<\/p>\n

Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s EVP of sales and marketing, recently said that the company has no plans on preventing used games being played on their systems.<\/p>\n

Moffitt said that Nintendo has no “formal position on used game sales”, but elaborated to say that the company isn’t looking to impede the purchase of secondhand games.<\/p>\n

“It is a reality in the marketplace,” he said. “We haven’t incorporated any features that will discourage used game sales at this point. We’re not trying to circumvent that.”<\/p>\n

The controversy surrounding the future (or lack thereof) of used games escalated when rumours emerged regarding Sony’s next console, which supposedly may block pre-owned games.<\/p>\n
